How to rebuild a transmission
During the passage to Zihuatanejo back in April, our transmission took its last breaths. Once we had sailed onto anchor, recovered from the passage, and had a beer or two, we set off in search of a mechanic that could diagnose and potentially fix this somewhat important piece of gear. We soon found Filipe and Diego, who were both patient with our broken spanish and very competent mechanics.
It was not an easy project, that much was obvious!

Well, once we found a mechanic, explained the problem in worse spanish than a 3-year old might speak, ordered parts from Chicago and London, called UPS daily until we literally met the delivery driver in the main square for the hand-off, and paid the better part of a month’s budget, it was all Very Easy!
