To my favorite Halcyon Wandering VIP-subscribers…
Well, we have left Halcyon to fend for herself in the Marquesas for a few months. Right now, our squiggly path of life is pulling us along into the Arctic. And so we wander…
John and I leave this Tuesday to get on a 260’ icebreaker with 2 science teams for a month-long expedition above the arctic circle. Our job is to document and share the amazing work those scientists are doing. But not just the science-y outcomes of their research. We want to share the day-to-day nitty gritty of life aboard, how the technology works (and what happens when it doesn’t), and how all these people came to be on a big ship in the arctic winter.
We’ve started a new blog to host this new and different content: IceinMotion.com
We’ve transferred your VIP subscriber-status from this website over to that one (so you’re already subscribed to that blog!). If you don’t want to receive these arctic updates, simply click ‘unsubscribe’ on the first email. It won’t impact your VIP subscriber status over here, I promise. On the other hand, we would be so very grateful if you’d encourage all of your friends to subscribe too. We really want to share this story as widely as we can.
There will be a ship tracker so you can see where we are in real time, regular field updates with stories and John’s awesome photos, and live stream events so you can come aboard with us (virtually) and check it out!
My goal is that the content we generate is approachable and educational, honest and not too disheartening. As my VIP’s, will you keep me on track? Please send us feedback, ask us questions, and absolutely share any curiosities you have about the trip so that we can address them. We will have access to email throughout the voyage.
Thanks for being awesome, we’re so excited to share this next adventure with you!
